Worldwide smartphone market grows 89.5% on year in 3Q10, says IDC

The worldwide smartphone market reached a new milestone during the third quarter of 2010, with the leading vendors posting double- or even triple-digit on-year growth, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC). Worldwide smartphone vendors shipped a total of 81.1 million units, up 89.5% from the 42.8 million units shipped a year earlier. For the first three quarters of 2010, vendors have shipped a total of 200.6 million units, up 67.6% on year from 119.6 million units.
