As smartphone panel prices fall, panel makers focus on cost reduction, says IHS

As smartphone panel selling prices continue to fall, display makers are focused on finding ways to reduce production costs, in order to eke out profits. For example, five-inch Full HD mobile phone panels experienced a drastic on-year unit-shipment decline of 34%, but manufacturing costs fell only 14% in 2014. If current price trends continue, manufacturing costs for five-inch Full HD panels are expected to reach the break-even point by the end of 2015, according to IHS.
