Growth accelerates in worldwide mobile phone and smartphone markets in 2Q13, says IDC

The worldwide mobile phone market grew 6% on year in the second quarter of 2013. According to International Data Corporation (IDC), vendors shipped a total of 432.1 million mobile phones in the second quarter compared to 407.7 million units in the second quarter of 2012. The total was also slightly higher than the 428.8 million units shipped in the first quarter of 2013.
