LTE and 3G driving 30% growth in APAC mobile Internet infrastructure market, says Synergy Research

One of the fastest growing technology markets is networking equipment to support mobile Internet access. The second quarter of 2011 saw mobile Internet infrastructure revenues pass the US$400 million milestone in the APAC region, while continuing to grow at 30% per year, according to market research firm Synergy Research. This market segment, which comprises mainly mobile multimedia gateways and specialized routing and switching equipment, is being driven by an explosion in the number of smartphones and tablets, and the ever-increasing levels of data and video traffic generated by applications on those devices, mainly supported by 3G and 4G/LTE networks.
