Non-smartphone handset shipments to fall 5% in 2011, says Digitimes Research

Worldwide handset shipments in 2011 (excluding smartphones) will fall 5% to 1.14 billion units from 1.173 billion units in 2010, according to Digitimes Research senior analysts Roger Huang. With most major brand vendors placing more emphasis on smartphones, China-based manufacturers will account for a 34.2% share of the non-smartphone handset market in 2010, and up slightly to 34.8% in 2011.
