Acer cancels joint press conference with Alibaba to unveil smartphone in Shanghai

Acer originally planned to hold a joint press conference with China-based Alibaba Group in Shanghai on September 13 to debut CloudMobile A800, a smartphone based on the Alibaba-developed Aliyun operating system, but canceled shortly before the conference. Alibaba has issued a statement indicating that Acer's cancellation was due to pressure from Google, however, Acer did not confirm or deny the claim.
