Global PC market grows 19% in 4Q10 with Apple climbing to third place if pads are counted, says Canalys

Canalys has announced strong PC industry growth of 19% in the fourth quarter of 2010, with Apple climbing to third place in the market, thanks to impressive iPad and Mac sales, as well as fast growth in Asia Pacific. The analyst company attributed the majority of the fourth-quarter market growth to the rising demand for pads, which unlike most other market watchers, Canalys regards as a product category within the PC segment, rather than a separate category which falls between PCs and handsets.
