Taiwan handset component makers not significantly affected by depreciation of US dollar

Most Taiwan-based component and handset makers, including Merry Electronics, Ichia Technologies and Arima Communications, indicated that the depreciation of the US dollar against the NT dollar has not brought substantial negative impact on their operations mainly because part of their accounts receivable and payable are in US dollars and they use forward exchange transactions to reduce foreign exchange risks. The NT dollar will further appreciate into 2011 from NT$30.70-30.90 against US$1 currently to NT$30-30.50 but should not go below the NT$30 threshold, they indicated.
