LG handset metrics - Q4 2008

Though LG posted its first quarterly loss since 2007, it shipped more than 100 million units in 2008, giving added clout to the Korean company. LG said it would tighten capital spending in 2009. The company's handset division remains strong, and as losses from other sectors of LG's business like its LCD display division mount, it could mean that LG will be relying more on its handset division to boost the company's bottom line. The company is also expected to produce an Android phone sometime in 2009.   Q4 numbers:

Sales: $3 billion
Units shipped: 25.7 million
Average selling price: $91
Market share: 8.3 percent
